Johan Heinrichs started writing songs at age 11 and not long afterward the Lord gave him part of a verse that he has placed upon his heart. It is “Seek me and live” from Amos 5:4, upon which he bases his life.
Originally hailing from Regina, Saskatchewan, Johan was formerly a bass player and youth preacher/evangelist. He later served as bassist/worship leader and youth/cell group leader at the Winnipeg Centre Vineyard for almost a decade. His song “You Search Me” was included on the Vineyard’s Shake off the Dust album.
Johan found he was never able to fit in the artist mold that was so prevalent around him: “The Lord finally spoke clearly to me and said ‘I have not called you to be an artist, I have called you to be a Worshiper’.”
He has been with Sanctuary House of Prayer since its inception and ministering before the Lord is now Johan’s sole focus. One of SHOP’s most genuine and dedicated musicians and Davidic worshipers, he co-leads the 8:30 pm team, as well as singing, chorus leading and bass playing.
“The Audience of one has grabbed hold of my heart and I finally feel like I knew what the Lord had planned for me.”
Johan is married to Corrie and together they have three young children, Eli, Caitlin and Luke.
