Winnipeg artists Steve Bell and Fresh IE lead all nominees for the 37th Covenant Awards with seven nominations each.
Among his nominations, Steve Bell’s multi-disc album Pilgrimage, a celebration of his 25-year solo career, is nominated for Album of the Year and Folk Album of the Year, and the title track ‘Turn It Around’ is nominated for Song of the Year.
Nominated alongside Steve Bell for Artist of the Year is Grammy-nominated rapper Fresh IE. For his album Collide: City of Worship 2, Fresh IE is also nominated for Rap Album of the Year and Collaboration of the Year.
Other multiple nominees include Tim Neufeld, who picks up six nominations including Song of the Year and Recorded Song of the Year for his track I’m Free, from the album The Joy (featuring The Glory Boys), nominated for Album of the Year.
Nova Scotia’s Chelsea Amber has received five nominations, including Artist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Pop Album of the Year for her album Introducing Chelsea Amber, which recently won R&B/Soul Recording of the Year and Gospel Recording of the Year at the East Coast Music Awards.
Last year’s Artist of the Year winner, Dan Bremnes, is up for the award again in 2015, along with three other nominations for his album Where The Light Is, which marks his first full-length album since being signed to Sparrow Records in 2014.
